Varicose Veins

Varicose veins are the result of malfunctioning valves which cause enlarged segments of veins that are close to the skin's surface. They can be very painful and often look purple, red or blue. As the blood pools in the vein and cannot circulate through the body, the vein bulges and creates increased pressure. Your legs may swell, become heavy, and cramp.
